RRC 2014: Dec 1st

The Raw Review Crew

December 1st 2014: On this week’s Raw Review Crew… Tag team turmoil, chair destruction turmoil and some bullshit Cena turmoil.

Krizbii... Welcome to a very curtailed edition of the RRC. I’ll keep the party hat llama as it’s the 640th RRC and I’m not sure it’ll make it to 650. As it’s the busiest day of the year where I work, my normal Raw viewing slot was replaced by a 14 hour shift, so I didn’t have time to go into too much detail, but first, here’s a quick word from Justin.

Justin C...
While the main event was some decent wrestling, there was really nothing else on the show worthwhile. And even with the main event, it really doesn’t mean anything in the long run. I talked about this on the HTC Pulsecast today, but it really seems like the WWE is in auto pilot for the rest of December. I don’t think we will get anything new and/or major from a storyline perspective.

Just look at tonight’s show. Outside of the stipulation to the Seth Rollins/John Cena match at TLC, nothing newsworthy came out of this show. You could have easily skipped this show and not missed anything. A show can have a good match or two on it, but if nothing meaningful happens with storylines then it really doesn’t matter in the long run. I’m going to give the show a 2.And with next week being the Slammy Awards show, I’m already dreading it.

Opening Segment

This whole thing was a total mess, Cena was being a total dick throughout, most of it didn’t make any sense at all and the random brawling seemed to just be a lazy way to pair people up for TLC.

Tag Team Turmoil

New Day beating Gold/Stardust should be a good achievements since they were just tag champs, instead they immediately lost to a team that isn’t a team, who then also lost, and after all that the winners just end up being the Usos who are almost always in tag title matches anyway.

Midcard Action

  • Show beat up Rowan to show off his heeldom.
  • Fandango vs Swagger didn’t happen, but we did get more of Rosa’s unbelieveable unsexy dancing, before a predictable Rusev/Lana promo brought Swagger out.
  • I don’t mind Swagger facing Rusev again, as long as they don’t end up just rehashing all of Rusev’s previous feuds.
  • Mizdow beating a Matador was uneventful, with the main story being Miz trying to suck up to Naomi to add another angle to the tag title match. Hopefully Sandow gets an inflatable stunt Naomi.
  • R-Truth getting squashed might be impressive if R-Truth had done anything of any significance in the last couple of years. I felt worse about the poor chair than Truth losing. The Wyatt/Ambrose feud is kind of nuts, but is well-suited to a brawl with weapons.

Bella Twins vs AJ/Naomi

Wow, Naomi won the vote for AJ’s partner, it’s not like they did anything to try and sway it or anything. Not that Naomi had any real involvement in this match as it was just a way for AJ to make Nikki tap so they can have another match.

Heyman Promo

Since Brock should actually show up soon, it’s good to have Heyman promo time back. He even managed to explain away Lesnar’s lenghty absence quite well.

Main Event

A decent match combining bits of the Survivor Series match with future singles matches for TLC which will probably get announced at some point besides Cena’s. I suppose them all getting revenge on the slow lumbering sack of shit that is the Big Show at the end made sense, although doing that last week would have been better than this delayed reaction to him being a traitor.

Final Thoughts

Not a great show and it felt like filler most of the way through. Rollins’ opening promo pointed out how shitty and directionless Raw would be with different authority figures each week, and Heyman’s promo pointed out having the same thing every week isn’t special. Welcome to WWE Raw, a place that points out how directionless and unspecial it is.
